Inside Volunteers of America’s Minimalist New York City HQ

Volunteers of America, a nonprofit organization providing affordable housing and other assistance services to low-income people throughout the United States, recently hired interior architecture firm The Switzer Group to consolidate their five different office locations into a new headquarters in New York City.

“The esteemed not-for-profit organization desired a space that would promote more collaboration between team members and efficiency between the different departments within a central location – and that’s exactly what they got. Completed in January of this year, the VoA design concept was inspired by the heritage of the institution, honoring its history while seamlessly integrating contemporary elements. The Switzer Group used natural materials to add a layer of richness to the space and opted for pops of color to contrast with the sleek monolithic elements inspired by the urban landscape of the city. And for those looking to escape that constant hustle and bustle, calm spaces dotted with points of interest were weaved throughout the office to promote teamwork. The result? An inspiring and collaborative environment that truly reflects VOA’s mission and values,” says The Switzer Group
