A Tour of Boston Consulting Group’s Modern Office in Summit

Boston Consulting Group, a management consulting company that provides management consulting and advisory services, hired architectural firm HLW to design their new office in Summit, New Jersey.

“The 31,000-square-foot space is composed of four intimate and unique work floors that are connected by a custom, sculptural staircase which incorporates numerous seating enclaves for serendipitous meetings and offers a healthy and active environment. The stair acts as an organizing element that weaves through the facility, creating an exciting meandering path through the interplay of light and texture. Every turn reveals a new experience and collage of innovative and refined materials of metal and wood, juxtaposed against the industrial quality of the concrete floors and exposed ceiling. In order to further maximize natural light within Boston Consulting Group’s new space, a skylight was introduced over the staircase allowing sunshine to filter through the atrium. The top floor, which serves as a communal space, has a flexible wall which blends the exterior terrace space and interior entertaining space. Colored and textured glass punctuate the office in each floor, acting like a kaleidoscope as the natural light filters through them. Lastly, sit-to-stand desks are clustered in quiet heads-down areas directly adjacent to the floor to ceiling windows, giving employees access to natural light throughout their day,” says HLW
