ThoughtWorks, a global technology consultancy helping clients discover what is next and bring it to life with technology, hired interior design firm Karpinski Design, to design their new African headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“ThoughtWorks have always been situated in the urban hub of Johannesburg and wanted to move into a building more suited to their needs, and have a fresh start. They took the 10th & 11th floors of an office block overlooking down town Johannesburg. The challenge was creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing interior without drowning out the amazing urban view. All services and technology were housed in the central bulkhead allowing the 1960’s concrete ribbed sofit to shine through uncluttered. Subtle lighting was introduced and the entire 10th floor is used as entertaining and collaborative spaces for a host of functions and seminars they run”, says Karpinski Design
