Gefion Insurance, an insurance company that provides insurance solutions for agents and brokers, hired multidisciplinary design studio Johannes Torpe Studios to design their new headquarters located in Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital city.

“Playing with perceptions and rethinking the norm has always been at the heart of Johannes Torpe Studios. When Gefion Insurance asked them to design and brand their new headquarters in the historic part of central Copenhagen, the untraditional setting and layout of the space reminded the design team of a small boutique hotel. Hence, the idea was born. “At the opening reception, people complimented the choice of venue – not realising they were actually standing in the office”, says Creative Director Johannes Torpe. “It doesn’t feel like a work space, and it doesn’t have an office vibe. The design plays on a completely different level of understanding that stems from the service and hospitality industry”, he explains. The studio has been able to draw from vast experience in retail and hospitality interior design in order to create a space that is functional for employees, while truly representative of the brand.
