A Look Inside SIX Group’s New London Office

Finance firm SIX Group recently hired workplace design firm Oktra to design their new office in London, England.

“As you enter the new office users are greeted by a curved reception area. Originally looking to include a circular bar, we opted to split the space in two to comprise a curved reception point with a mirroring seating and bar area on the reverse, maximising the reception area to become a multifunctional welcome space for visitors that can also be used for touchdown working by staff.

Located in a uniquely shaped curved building, each corner of the office space is designated a particular colour which is manifested in curved shapes on the wall and ceiling to reflect the architecture and create distinct breakout spaces for each team. Furnished with soft seating areas, these zones facilitate better collaboration and provide retreat for staff away from the open-plan desking and workstations.

SIX Group were conscious to design an inclusive workspace that would support all of their staff and their individual needs. We ensured the teapoint was DDA compliant making it suitable for wheelchair users, whilst a wellness room provides quiet space that can be utilised as required, such as for prayer or new mothers.

Our client selected a property that boasts ample exterior windows in addition to an external terrace with views of St Mary Axe located off of the teapoint and breakout area. The design looks to maximise natural light with glass manifestations on meeting rooms and is complemented with additional biophilic design elements such as plenty of planting to promote better wellness for staff.

Looking to refine their workspace, sustainable finishes were employed such as acoustic panels made from recycled bottles and stone worktops that were selected over laminate to create a more sophisticated impression whilst considering the long-lasting and more sustainable nature of the finish. Their brand red colour is utilised occasionally in furniture finishes, contributing to a considered, contemporary office design that SIX Groupcan take pride in.”
