A Peek Inside Hello Great Works’ New Copenhagen Office

Strategic design company Hello Great Works that creates digital products and services, recently designed itself a new office in Copenhagen, Denmark.

“The moment visitors enter Hello Great Work’s office the first view really gives a welcoming impression that makes one wonder if they have just entered an office space or an in-house café/lounge. With the smell of freshly brewed coffee, the sound of distant laughter from employees, and the sight of whatever delicious treat that is being prepared in the kitchen to keep the employees engines running, one instantly feels that this office resembles more than just a workplace.

The broad office space is seen as a second home for the company’s 50 creative employees. The unique aesthetics of the office reflect the informal, playground-culture that Hello Great Works has created. The row of black scooters parked neatly at the entrance, ready for anyone to grab to scoot from one side of the office to the other, illustrates this perfectly. The kitchen and lounge area are seen as the focal points of the office furnished with a living room-esque corner and a long table, with chairs and lots of pillows, that enables everyone to gather around for lunch or other social events. The coloured walls in the office with black window frames provide a distinctive contrast which suit the simplistic, clean Scandinavian aesthetic.

The large windows also create an open-air workspace with constant natural light from the outside lighting up the entire office. This also provides a non-formal, non-cubicle, non-wall atmosphere making sure that an open communication culture can thrive while promoting transparency. However, whether employees need to make phone calls, have meetings, brainstorm with other colleagues or just sit by themselves without interruptions, sound dampening rooms can be found around the office which all have an interesting cultural touch – namely their names. Each room is named after the stages at Roskilde Festival, the largest music festival in Northern Europe, which Hello Great Works attend every year as an annual tradition. Also, the sofas around the office are strategically placed for informal meetings, or as an alternative relaxed workspace.

When someone needs a breather from work, an enclosed green garden is to be found giving employees a 360 view of the entirety of Hello Great Works while getting fresh air or chatting with a colleague. During summertime the garden is used for several things: lunch spot, hang-out spot and for afterhours drinks.”
